# The proposed approach

This is the demo workspace — paste your own markdown on the left, switch templates on the right, and see the rendered document update live. Everything here works offline; nothing is sent to a server while you edit.

## Executive summary

mdclaudy treats your markdown as the source of truth. **Templates control the visual grammar.** Your file stays clean and portable — export it back any time. Below are the building blocks the renderer understands out of the box.

## Headings, lists, and emphasis

Use one `#` for the document title. The leading H1 is hoisted out of the body and rendered in the template's cover area.

### A subsection

Sub-headings nest naturally. The reader sidebar (visible on wider templates) is generated from the heading tree.

- Ordered or unordered lists
- *Italic* and **bold** for inline emphasis
- `inline code` for short snippets

## Code blocks

The fenced code block sets the language hint:

Templates can choose between paper-grain monospace, terminal-style green-on-black, or a neutral light syntax.

## The math, set properly

Math renders with KaTeX. Inline like $e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0$, or as a centered block:

## Tables

Tables follow GitHub-flavored markdown:

The renderer supports Mermaid for diagrams:

## Appendix — what to try next

1. **Switch templates.** Click any card in the right rail. The preview reflows instantly.
2. **Paste your own draft.** Replace this content. Auto-save keeps it locally.
3. **Pick a theme.** The dots in the top bar switch between Paper, Sepia, Dark, and Newsprint.
4. **Download.** PDF and DOCX exports require a free account — click either Download button to sign up.

That's it. The demo is a real slice of the product — you're seeing exactly what your account would render.
